The cedar was meant to protect it’s contents by naturally repelling moisture and smell while the non-rust galvanized sheet metal that lines each box, was meant to keep the green tea leaves dry until they were ready to be ground. In a contemporary home, these boxes are great for storing food in the pantry while repelling insects or for condensing small household belongings in the closet.
