I am a Diamond Sake Pitcher. I was skillfully made from world-renowned clay and fired into a brilliant white porcelain diamond - a diamond in the rough, some would say.

Curator's Notes

Β

Drinking sake is an integral part of Japanese cuisine and the act of drinking sake is full of intricacies. Out of politeness, it is customary to serve your company first while drinking in a group thus, the Jicon porcelain sake pitcherΒ was designed with this in mind. The pitcher is aΒ communal object for the tableΒ as it has a spout on bothΒ sides and can be grabbed without changing it's position - Allowing you to serve others and in turn be served easily! The diamond shape is easily grippedΒ in the hands while pouring. Matching sake vessels include the "Hosomi", "Subomi" and "Hiraki".
